Mattress Topper or Feather Bed for Memory Foam mattress?

January 25th, 2011

I’ve got a memory foam mattress that feels somewhat firm even after several months of use. What type of mattress topper or feather bed might work best with a memory foam mattress?

Is there a mattress topper you would recommend?

January 19th, 2011

I have an older non-pillow top full mattress that is not entirely uncomfortable, but could use extra padding. The main issue is that that ties in the mattress indentations are annoying and uncomfortable. Can you recommend a mattress pad/topper that will add some cushioning without being too expensive?

I am thinking about investing in a memory foam mattress topper?

January 2nd, 2011

I am not sure about the placement on the bed? Does it go under the Contour Sheet? Which would flatten it.. Does it go on top of the contour sheet? Do you sleep directly on the foam? I have heard that there are covers made for these toppers. Is that what you sleep on? How do you keep it from moving around on the bed.. This is all very confusing for me… Help!!!

Want a mattress topper to soften my mattress? Ideas?

January 1st, 2011

I don’t like memory foam…I’ve tried it and it’s no good for my back. My current mattress is in good condition, only a few years old, but I find it a little hard sometimes and want something to soften it. Any ideas? Regular foam? Feather bed topper?

Is a cotton mattress and feather bed mattress topper a good combination?

December 30th, 2010

I’m just wondering if this is a good combination for comfort or what the downside would be; I’m tired of having a box spring mattress.

Has anyone tried the Therapedic Memory Touch Visco-Tech Mattress Topper?

November 24th, 2010

I do not sleep through the night and I always wake up feeling tired and wore out. I have purchased two cheap memory foam mattress toppers in the past, but I didn’t like either one. My friend has the Terapedic Memory Touch 3" mattress topper and she swears by it. I went to her house and laid on it, and it seems nice, but laying on it for a few mins is different than sleeping through the night on it. I want to buy it but I’m scared because it costs so much money. She got it from Bed Bath and Beyond. They seem to have a good return policy, but my friend says that there is no way to get it back in the box once you take it out. Anyone tried it?

do i have to wait to sleep on my memory foam mattress topper?

November 22nd, 2010

it says to wait 24 hours – but what will happen if I sleep on it after only 2! I am desperate for a decent night’s sleep!!! I just googled it and realized this might help so I am going to drive out of my way after work to pick one up – but I don’t want to wait – I mean I can open it and wait an hour or two….what will happen – I know I sound desperate!!!

Is there any way to prevent a down mattress topper from shedding?

November 13th, 2010

I was given a down mattress topper recently. I finally got around to putting it on my bed yesterday, and was quite pleased with the look and feel of the bed afterward. But after only a couple hours sleep last night, I woke to little feather quills poking me through the sheet. I put a thick blanket between the down topper and the fitted sheet when I made the bed. I put on the blanket with the intent on protecting the topper. I didn’t know I would need to protect myself from feather quill pokes. Quills came through the blanket and fitted sheet. Is there any way I can stop this, or should I just throw the thing away?

Memory Foam mattress toppers, do they all have the chemical odor?

November 12th, 2010

I get migraines and am very sensitive to perfums, household cleaning agents, etc. Doing research online, some reviewers say the ‘initial odor is horrible’ and ‘have to air it out to weeks’. Is there any type of memory foam mattress topper out there without a smell?

Is sleeping on a memory foam mattress topper directly on the floor do-able?

November 8th, 2010

I’m a college student who’s trying to save a little money but still get a decent sleep and was wondering if it’s okay to put a memory foam mattress topper directly on the floor and sleep on it like that? I do realize that I would need to put it on some kind of hard flat surface, but I just want to know if doing so would still be comfortable? I’m looking at 4" toppers, maybe 3" if I’m stingy. Is that too thin? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks~

How to clean mattress topper?

October 30th, 2010

I live in a dorm(freshman in college) and I have a thin memory foam mattress topper for the bed. It’s only about an inch thick, with memory foam on top then egg crates on bottom. It works really well but I’ve been using it since last September and I probably need to clean it. I’ve febreezed it a couple times, but that it. How would I clean something like that? Its too big to drag to the dry cleaners(I don’t have a car, so I would have to take the bus, and it’s bulky). I don’t think it would fit in the small washers we have. Plus I’m in a dorm so I can’t leave it outside to dry. Ideas?

Fluffing-up a mattress topper? ?

October 27th, 2010

Over a year ago I purchased a mattress topper to go over my normal mattress. It filled with synthetic stuffing inside (not foam or down).

For a while it was super fluffy and it felt like sleeping on a big pillow. Now with use- it has become slightly-moderately flattened out. I’d hate to have to go and purchase another one since mine was rather expensive. Is there anything I can do (inexpensively) to help it resume some of it’s previous fluffiness?

I’ve tried shaking it out and throwing it in the dryer, but this didn’t seem to really help that much. Any tips? :)

Where can i get a Super Soft Mattress Topper?

October 25th, 2010

Hello, i am looking for a mattress topper to make my bed softer. I want something that i can sink into and have a hard time getting up because i sunk into it so far. I already tried memory foam and that was even harder than i thought it was going to be. I don’t know what a ”SUPER SOFT MATTRESS TOPPER” would be called? I had tried a display bed at big lots and i layed on a bed of theirs and it had somekind of topper on it..there was a box sitting there saying what it was and everything but i have a king bed and they didnt have it in a KING so i didnt worry about it and didnt care to write down what the topper was called..so i can search it or something..but anyways! I need something extremely soft (like a cloud!) that i can sink really deep into like the display in BIG LOTS! please help me? i want my bed to be extraaaaaaaaa soft!!!!!!!!!!!

Should I get a memory foam mattress topper?

October 24th, 2010

I am in rented accommodation so really don’t want to buy anymore furniture to cart around from rented house to rented house with me HOWEVER my mattress in my new house is so uncomfortable it’s savage.

When I moved in I started aching and feeling like I needed a good stretch in the morning but I thought it was because I wasn’t continuing my yoga practices through the week like the teacher told me to. Then last week my boyfriend stayed round (normally I go to him because he lives near the clubs and bar so it’s easier than mine) and was so fidgety. Eventually I was like what’s up? and he pointed out my mattress is awful and it hurts his back.

When I thought about it I realised my mattress is awful. You can feel individual springs poking you, so bad in fact that sometimes I think I am lying on something like a pen but it’s a spring. I slept round his again last night and my body ached so much less so now I want a solution that isn’t buying a new mattress.

I saw in a shop recently a memory foam mattress topper and I thought maybe this would solve my problem. My only concern is that the springs would just poke me through the memory foam? Can this happen? Is this an appropriate solution?

PS. Our landlord is pretty horrendous (still waiting for a patio door key, the mould cleaned off our freezer, etc) so I will never get a new mattress and I can’t afford one or store it when I leave at the end of this academic year.

Does anyone here use a mattress topper and do you like it?

October 22nd, 2010

My matress is starting to get old (8 years). Its a good mattress but just not comfortable like it once was, although not terrible. I’m torn between spending 500-800 on a decent new mattress or spending 150 on a 3 inch deluxe mattress topper (not the cheap egg crate kind but the good ones). I was just wondering if anyone has used a decent mattress topper and what they think and if they are worth the money or is it better off just getting a new mattress?

Memory Foam Mattress or Topper?

October 21st, 2010

I need your help please! I live in a shared house with my landlady. Now, my current double bed and mattress belongs to my landlady. The spring mattress is absolute rubbish and has been giving me back-ache, however as I don’t own a bed I’m hesitant to buy a mattress (plus, they’re so expensive). I mean, what if I move out, and end up with a bed that’s bigger (or smaller) than my landlady’s bed?
So as an alternative, I was thinking of buying a topper. I’ve never used a topper before, so wasn’t sure if it would work……

I’ve heard a lot of good things about memory foam, so was thinking of buying a 3inch memory foam mattress topper to go on top of the current crap mattress as a) it’s cheaper, and b)won’t be as problematic when I eventually get my own place and buy my own bed. Do you think it would work and help the bed be more comfy? Or do you reckon I’d be better off investing in a mattress, even though I don’t own a bed?

Please help!

Is buying a tempur-pedic mattress worth it? Or should I just get a topper for my old bed?

October 16th, 2010

I’m sure a topper is cheaper, so would it be worth it to buy the ~00 bed?

Thank you.
Please include the type of matteress you have too. (I.e. Cloud, Cloud HD, ect…)

Thanks again.
Oh, and how long you’ve had it.

Will a mattress topper fix this problem?

October 11th, 2010

My mattress is sh!t and you can feel the springs through it which is very uncomfortable! I live in a rented house though so I am reluctant to pay for an entirely new mattress but I was looking online and came across mattress toppers. Are these thick so that it would fix the problem or are they just a covering? Or are they both depending on which one you get?

Don’t suggest asking the landlord to replace it because trust me he won’t

Thanks in advance
